Thanks! Your beauty routine makeover is on its way!

What is Love Goodly?

While the name of this company ticks off my inner grammar nerd, there is a whole lot to love about them! Love Goodly is a bi-monthly subscription box that contains four to five products that are natural, vegan, and cruelty-free for $34.95.

The products themselves usually fall under the beauty, wellness and hygiene categories, but every once in a while they’ll include a fun healthy snack. This month’s box included mostly beauty-related items and I’m not mad about it.

For me, one of my biggest fears with buying a subscription box was that I would get a bunch of greenwashed products that weren’t much better than the products I’m trying to avoid. But they take this very seriously, so this Love Goodly review won’t go there. I was very happy that Love Goodly is very transparent with the guidelines they use when choosing new products!

Strong Values You Can Trust

You can see what they value in a product right on their homepage towards the bottom. They will only choose products that align with certifications such as: Handmade, organic, made in the USA, fair trade, sustainable production, cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free, made from recycled products, non-GMO, nontoxic, and/or donates to a charity.

That was a pretty long list, but I like that it’s long. However, you’ve probably read in my guide to avoiding greenwashed products that labels only mean so much. But I’m happy to report in this Love Goodly review that they only choose products that do not contain ingredients from their banned ingredients list.

What made me want to try Love Goodly was that they will not include a product if it has an ingredient from their banned ingredient list. You can find all of the biggest offenders on this list, like sulfates, parabens, triclosan, formaldehyde, and mineral oil. This list helped put me at ease that I was going to get products that were truly natural and not greenwashed.

You will also get a little post card with a list and description of each item in the box. I really appreciated this because it gave me a little background on how each product worked and which charity they donate to when I sat down to write this Love Goodly review. And Love Goodly takes charities very seriously!

Help Support a Cause for While enjoying Your New Products

Another great thing about Love Goodly is that 5% of the proceeds goes to help an organization devoted to animal rescue or cancer support. This month’s box is devoted to helping Farm Sanctuary, an organization that rescues and rehabilitates abused farm animals.

You can get your Love Goodly subscription every other month knowing that you supported a cause you care about. Love Goodly supports organizations like the Beagle Freedom Project, Orangutan Alliance, the Cancer Support Community of las Angeles, Cure Cervical Cancer, and Paw Works Cat and Dog Rescue. I’m thrilled that this Love Goodly review could help an organization in need!

If you are passionate about animal rights and/or cancer support and research, this is the box for you. It’s a great way to introduce yourself to new brands that align with your values. And you won’t be exposing yourself to any nasty chemicals that can hinder your health! We’re all about that here at Essential Moves to Wellness.

If you don’t want to know what this box contains, scroll down a bit so you can still be surprised! You can read my general reaction to this box and my overall thoughts on Love Goodly to decide if it’s something you’d want to try yourself. It definitely wasn’t what I was expecting!

Otherwise, scroll through the list of things I got in this box to see what I thought in this Love Goodly review! I’ve listed every item’s name, the company, and its value if bought alone. For four small items, it added up pretty fast! That alone made this box worth it to me. Read on to see my favorite!

Lip Whip by True Moringa Valued at $16

You have a 50/50 chance of getting one of two lip colors in this box, which made opening it that much more fun! I happened to get this lip whip in the color Mystery, a burgundy color made with anise. The other option is Truth, a cocoa pink color made with yarrow.

Believe it or not, this is the first natural lip color I’ve tried! Shocking, I know. I hated traditional lipsticks so much that when I cleaned out my makeup bag, I never bothered to get lipstick. I always hated the way they made my lips feel, they tasted terrible, and always rubbed off easily. But I’ve put the past behind me and fell in love with this lip color!

When I first saw how dark of a color Mystery was, I was a little nervous. But the application put all the fears to rest. It showed up on my lips as a nice deep burgundy red that was sheer enough to look natural. It kind of tasted like licorice, which I’m guessing was the anise. I’m not a fan of licorice, but it dissipated pretty quick.

Plus, my lips felt great! They felt moisturized, but not overly moisturized to the point I felt like it would slide off like some natural chap sticks I have. It even absorbed into my lips quickly, so I didn’t have to worry about it transferring to everything about 10 minutes after I put it on. I finally found a natural lip color I think I’ll wear all the time, which is more than I was expecting!

Tea Drop Samplers by Tea Drops Valued at $2.70

I’ve never seen or used tea drops before, but they’re so cute! I got a matcha green tea drop and a citrus ginger drop in their own individual packaging. The drop itself was in the shape of a flower that fit nicely into the palm of my hand.

The drop was made of all organic ingredients, including organic cane sugar. There’s nothing fake or freeze-dried about the tea drop being in a flower shape! The leaves are small enough for you to drink without having to strain them out, but they caution you that there will be some sediment at the bottom.

The info card said that the tea drop would dissolve when hot water was poured over it, and it worked just as it said it would. It was like watching the tea version of a bath bomb slowly dissolve into my mug, which was pretty satisfying to watch.

organic tea

I’m sensitive to caffeine, so trying the matcha tea drop was out of the question. Luckily, the citrus ginger drop was caffeine-free, and tasted wonderful! I gave the matcha drop to a friend of mine who loved it as well. My one tip for using these tea drops is to not add sweetener!! The organic cane sugar is what’s binding the tea leaves together. This left my cup of tea tasting pleasantly sweet, but not too sweet, thankfully.

*Update* I wanted to quickly mention that you should always read ingredient lists and mind any food sensitivities when trying new snacks! I didn’t realize how much sugar was in the tea (6 grams) until I was done. I’ve had little to no sugar lately, organic or not, which led to me having a mini panic attack later that night. I’m not blaming the attack on the tea drop, but I do think it contributed.

Lash and Brow Serum by La Bloom Valued at $25

You know those lash and brow serum DIY tutorials you see on Pinterest every now and then? That’s exactly what this is. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, there are plenty of DIY tutorials out there on how to make your brows and/or lashes grow faster using a few essential oils.

I personally couldn’t get around to making one for myself, despite the fact that I’m the queen of DIY beauty! There were too many ingredients to buy for a little tube’s worth, and then there’s figuring out the perfect amount of each essential oil.

But this lash and brow serum took care of all of that for me! The directions say to apply this sparingly to your lashes and brows once a day. I put it on when I’m getting ready for bed after I’ve removed all my makeup.

The serum contains oils of castor, Argan, sweet almond, vitamin E, coconut, and lavender. I absolutely love this list because it’s literally something I could make myself. But I didn’t have to go through any of the hassle! It had little to no smell, with maybe a hint of nuttiness from the castor oil.

I was worried that this would be a thick serum because of the castor oil (never put that stuff on your hair unless it’s super thick!), but I was pleasantly surprised! If you know me well in real life, you know that I have very little eyebrows in a time when it’s trendy to have bold, dark brows. So I’m hoping that this stuff can help me out!

Formula No 9 MoonStone Perfume by Baiser Beauty Valued at $65

This is my absolute favorite product in this box!! I couldn’t wait to talk about it in this Love Goodly review. I’ve also never bothered to try a natural perfume before, mostly because I don’t wear perfume that often. But this perfume roller bottle is an absolute dream!

If you know me at all, you’ll know that roses are one of my favorite things. That’s why the logo for Essential Moves to Wellness is a rose, along with its color scheme of light pink, green, and brown. This floral perfume consists of rose, jasmine, and bergamot essential oils diluted in jojoba oil.

You can immediately pick out the rose scent in this perfume, but the jasmine and bergamot complement it so well that it amplifies the rose in a fun and uplifting way. I can’t smell this perfume without feeling happy! The main purpose of this perfume is to ground and center, and it certainly does that for me!

I put a little on the inside of my wrists and a bit just behind my ears, and that’s all you’ll need! A little bit of this stuff goes a long way. My husband said he could still smell it on me a few hours later, so I’ll consider that a win. This perfume has slowly made its way into my daily routine, and I can’t wait to wear it outside of quarantine!

My Initial Reaction to Love Goodly

I was so incredibly excited to get this box because it’s the first ever subscription box I’ve tried. I guess I live under a rock because I didn’t know that natural living-themed boxes were a thing until somewhat recently. They really do make a subscription box for just about anything!

I’ll admit that when I first got the box in the mail, the thing that threw me off was the size. It was so small! And the same went for the products in it. While they were all full-size, they were full-sized small products. This left me feeling a little underwhelmed.

I guess I’m so used to watching unboxings of products that are naturally much larger, like activewear or lifestyle items. If you think about it, most natural living products (with the exception of bulk items like shampoo) are not that big to begin with.

I took a look at Love Goodly’s past boxes, and they’re all four to five items that are truly great products, but they are smaller-sized products, like mascara or a tube of lotion. This is just something to keep in mind. While this subscription box has a great price, you won’t get any massive-sized products to give you that wow factor.

With that said, let’s dive into the pros and cons of this box:

The Pros

  • If you love a product so much that you run out, you can shop Love Goodly and buy individual products from past boxes.
  • You save a ton of money. The perfume alone is worth twice the amount of this box!
  • You get to explore new brands you’d never find on your own
  • The guesswork and research behind the company’s ingredients and morals is done for you
  • Donations are made to charities that help with animal rescue and cancer research
  • The price of this box is on the cheaper end of the spectrum

The Cons

  • You might not like everything you receive
  • The products themselves are small-sized (not sample-sized! Just small products, like a tube of mascara)

Final Thoughts on Love Goodly Natural Living Subscription Box

As someone who isn’t too fond of buying natural beauty products because of the price, this subscription box is the perfect solution! For a fixed rate every other month, you get to try new products that cost over twice as much as the price for the box.

You might have been shocked to hear me say that I’ve never tried a natural perfume or lipstick. And that’s because of two things: One, I prefer to DIY as much as I can. If it’s too much hassle and I can live without it, I won’t do it. Two, buying your own natural products can be very expensive, hence me DIYing everything.

I’m going to keep buying this subscription box because it’s already introduced me to so much! With only a couple of unfavorable opinions, I’ll consider this box a success. I love little surprises like this, so it will certainly brighten my day when it comes in the mail. Now that I know what to expect, I can’t wait to see what new things I get to try next!
