What is Honeybee Gardens?
Honeybee Gardens is a company that sells primarily makeup, but they offer body and haircare products too. Their main mission is to offer beauty products that are made of pure, natural ingredients at affordable prices. And they have certainly succeeded! I rarely come across a clean beauty brand with drugstore prices.
If you know me in real life, you know that I absolutely hate spending money on makeup. All the makeup I own is in a little pink bag, and the more expensive-looking products were gifts. But when I came across Honeybee Gardens for the first time, I was thrilled to try them out!
Sustainable, Cruelty-Free Makeup Meant to Last
One amazing thing about Honeybee Gardens is they are also very conscious of sustainability. Most of their eyeshadow palettes are meant to be refilled when you run out. And each little eyeshadow pan is recyclable. The eyeshadow palettes that are not refillable are also recyclable when you’re done.
What’s more, each of their products is vegan, gluten free, and cruelty free. All of those luscious colors you see are enriched with vitamins and botanicals. You will also never find talc, alcohol, fragrances, fillers, preservatives, or chemical dyes. Most of their products score a 1 on the EWG product scale, which is excellent.
This is one of the few brands that I trust enough to simply buy a product without doing extensive research on it first. And when I find a company like that, I never let it go! That’s why they take up a good amount of space in my makeup bag. But what exactly do they have to offer?
Where to Buy Honeybee Gardens
You can find Honeybee Gardens at their website, on Amazon, or in select stores. The owner of Honeybee Gardens herself has admitted they’re not too sure what stores carry their products, but luckily, they have a nice store locator on their website.
I can get Honeybee Gardens in person at all of my Natural Grocer’s. If you have one in your area, you should be able to find a cute little display of their products in the beauty section. If you don’t have a Natural Grocer’s in your area, check out your local health food store and see what you can find. There’s always the world wide web otherwise!
Honeybee Gardens offers all of your basic makeup products, including everything you need for your face, eyes, and lips. Honeybee Gardens foundation is a great option for someone just starting their switch to clean beauty!
The biggest selection that they have to offer is definitely their eyeshadows. Their eye makeup is superb, and it’s my favorite company for natural eye makeup options. You can get shadows in singles or palettes, and each palette is refillable or recyclable!
Now, you may be wondering how all of these products actually work. That’s why I’ve included my own thought on all of their products I’ve personally tried. Spoiler alert: I wear them every day!
Honeybee Gardens Eyeliner Review
I never realized what I was missing out on until I gave this eyeliner a shot a few years ago. It was one of the last things that I changed out in my makeup bag, mostly because it takes me forever to go through eyeliner.
Now that I have an eyeliner I love, I’m already almost halfway done with my pencil! I went with Belgian Chocolate, the dark brown color. Black always looked too bold on me, and Belgian Chocolate gives me a nice subtle highlight around my eyes.
It goes on very evenly, and I’ve never had problems with it smudging or rubbing off throughout the day. I can make it as bold or as subtle as I want, and I even use it for dance performances! It stays on pretty well, even when I’m dripping after dancing for four hours. My DIY makeup setting spray certainly helps too.
When it comes to everyday makeup, I prefer to tight line my eyes for a more subtle look. This means that I only line my upper waterline so it looks like I don’t have any liner at all, yet it really helps to bring out my eyes. It takes some practice, but I highly recommend it for every day makeup!
Tight lining my eyes inevitably leads to a little bit of the liner ending up in my eyes if I don’t do it right, and it hasn’t irritated my eyes once. This has been one of the biggest pieces of proof to me that Honeybee Gardens is legit!
Honeybee Gardens’ Mascara Review
I’ve tried quite a few mascaras over the years. In fact, it was the first natural makeup product I ever tried. You can read about more mascaras I like and whether or not you should DIY or buy mascara to see my own journey with that.
I recently gave Honeybee Gardens mascara a try, and I’m in love! It lasts pretty long without looking too much like fake lashes. Plus, it’s non-clumpy! I’ve tried natural mascaras in the past that made my lashes stick together in four giant lashes. Not a good look.
This problem doesn’t happen at all with Honeybee Gardens mascara! Each last is separated perfectly, and my eyes look great! Does anyone else have one eye that looks better in mascara than the other? Or is it just me? Either way, Honeybee Gardens takes care of this problem perfectly.
One thing that surprised me about this mascara is the smell. It doesn’t smell like chemicals at all, but it makes me think of a literal garden! I’m not kidding on this. There’s no floral scents or ingredients to indicate this, but it has a bit of an earthy undertone to the mascara. I doubt Honeybee Gardens did this on purpose, but it’s nice nonetheless.
The mascara comes in three different shades: Black Magic, Espresso, and Chocolate Truffle. They range from traditional black, to brown/black, to a deep brown. I went with Espresso because I’m not fair enough for chocolate truffle.
Honeybee Gardens Eyeshadow Review
And now it’s time for the part of the review I’m sure a lot of you are here for. The Honeybee Gardens eyeshadow review! I’m a big sucker for nude eyeshadows that have a little bit of shimmer, and Honeybee Gardens has a great selection just for that.
I have my personal favorite palette, the Cosmopolitan Palette, in a post all about the makeup products for stage performances I use. You can also see this post as a “what’s in my makeup bag” kind of post if you’re curious about what I use every day. But don’t worry, I’ll give you all the details right here.
I love the Cosmopolitan palette because it’s the perfect set of nudes and pinks. It’s a great option for someone who wants to keep things simply yet classy. I’ll usually cover my lid with the matte pink color, and then use the shimmery pink on my inner corner. Then I’ll go in with the matte brown for my crease. Voila! You’ve got yourself a basic nude eye.
Try Your Own Sustainable Eyeshadows!
There’s certainly shades for everyone! Whether you prefer nude or bold options, there’s something anyone will love. I personally love nude colors, and I’ve been a happy camper with their options. There are several palettes to choose from for both nude and bold lovers.
Each individual pressed eyeshadow comes in a little envelope. It is meant to be put in a magnetic palette tray while the envelope is recycled. There are also several palettes that come in recyclable materials that cannot be refilled.
The colors themselves are very pigmented, and they come on easily. They even have amazing staying power without all the nasty chemicals we’re trying to avoid! I use Honeybee Gardens eyeshadow for performances as well, and I can create a great “natural but extremely bold” stage look.
Some Tips and Tricks with Buying Honeybee Gardens Eyeshadow
If you’re about to buy their eyeshadow for the first time, here are my tips. I personally started out with a palette I really liked first, the Cosmopolitan Palette. But what I should have done was get a refillable eyeshadow palette. That way, if I find out that I don’t like a certain color but love the rest, I can simply get a different shade.
You can even take it one step further and make your own eyeshadow palette. Yes, it’s a more expensive option, but you know you’re getting colors that you’ll for sure love and use. And it’s nice knowing that you won’t have to get a completely new palette every time you run out. Just refill each eyeshadow as they run out on their own time.
Final Thoughts on this Honeybee Gardens Review
Honeybee Gardens is an amazing option for the clean beauty lover that doesn’t have hundreds of dollars to spend (which is most of us). I truly appreciate a company that is not only kind to animals, but kind to the environment. All of their products are recyclable, and their refillable palettes make it even easier to buy eyeshadow at your own pace.
I have personally tried their eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadows, and I love all of them! Everything stays on throughout the day, and they can even survive my dance performances. The eyeshadows are pigmented, the eyeliner goes on smooth, and the mascara separates all of my lashes for a full look.
Honeybee Gardens is also one of the few natural beauty brands you can find in stores! I can find them at my local Natural Grocer’s, but some traditional grocery stores carry them as well. Be sure to stop by the beauty department of your local health food stores to take a look for yourself.
Honeybee Gardens is the perfect gift for any makeup lover. If you want to get your feet wet with clean, safe beauty, this is a great company to try. Or you can get a friend on the clean beauty wagon with these products.
